In the 13th century the Mongols formed the Yuan dynasty and ruled China. The Mongol court continued many of its own traditions: the emperor moved from capital to capital with the seasons; hunting was a major pastime for all of the nobility; and women in the Yuan court had much more authority within the family and in matters of state than their Chinese female subjects could have even imagined having. YAY!!!
More about caravans:
Caravans conjure up images of fascinating far away lands, they allowed for commerce to thrive whilst bringing products from remote places.
In historical times, caravans connecting East Asia and Europe often carried luxurious and lucrative goods, such as silks, spices, teas, or jewelry. Many rulers, kings, and sultans along important trade routes constructed caravanserais, places where caravans could refresh their animals and supplies could be replenished. The luxurious goods brought by caravans were a boon to the local economy and they provided, those who could afford the prices, exotic items from far away.
Defense was also major consideration in caravans. The traders and merchants in the caravan felt more comfortable knowing others in the group “had their back”; in a sense power in numbers. As you can imagine, a slow moving train of incredible goods was a tempting offering for bandits.
BuDhaGirl is inspired by the exotic lands where caravans traveled and with the diverse offerings they carried. We love the imagery of spice markets, and patterned silks. Adornment such as tassels and beads from far away add to the luxurious layering of styles and cultures.
Mindful Glamour Ritual: Pause. Breathe. Black absorbs all light, it also represents wisdom and patience. Visualize yourself imbued with these qualities. Then…Go. Be it.
